Construction and Personalization of Collars
All of my collars have common elements. I use Polypro light or medium weight webbing because it does not stretch when gotten wet or lose its shape. Yet, it is strong, and pliable. I do make custom orders using nylon webbing for those who like the feel or when the correct color can only be obtained with nylon.
The hardware is welded or solid cast. Just having 1 dog break loose made a believer out of me. I use nickel, stainless, and plastic. Very little if any hardware touches the skin in many of my designs.
The outside finish may be ribbon, gimp, tapestry, jacquard, fashion fabric, or other finishes that I have found on my hunting trips to second hand, vintage, craft stores or online. I love to repurpose material, notions, and trims. This makes for an original product every time!
Fleece for padding and inside finish is the material of choice. Some people believe fleece is most comfortable for their dogs. Others like the smoothness of satin.
Therefore, I do both. My dogs like anything that keeps the webbing from rubbing.
Any comments or ways you think I can improve, please let me know.
